Controlling Overview
We have completed the FI part with GL, AR, AP, and now I want to move towards Controlling, the CO area. So financial accounting is the FI part, and in FI, we have GL, AR, AP. And in the next class or after, we will do the asset part also, that’s kind of part of FI. But now we will be moving towards CO, which is controlling.
And controlling has lots of stuff. We will cover cost element, cost center, internal order, and profit center accounting. All these items we will cover in the controlling area. And these are all linked with the FI. You know, when you post a transaction to FI, if there’s an expense account, that information is passed over to the controlling side, and we will go over how they are linked today.
So my plan is that I’ll give you an overview first. I’ll use a PowerPoint to give you an overview of the overhead cost controlling. It includes the cost center and internal order. I’ll give you an overview from the PowerPoint, then after that, we can go into the configuration. I will show you the configuration, and then you can go ahead and do the configuration on your side, and then we will process some transactions.
So in overhead cost controlling, we will learn about the cost center, cost element, and internal order, and we will talk about what they are. So let’s do an overview by this diagram.
So these are all SAP modules. We completed the FI, financial accounting, now we are doing the CO. So CO has overhead cost management, and then later we will do the fixed asset management. And these are the other modules, the SD for sales and distribution, where we have all the customer invoices, and materials management MM, where we have the PR, purchase acquisition, purchase order, and then the vendor invoices also in MM. But then they are moved towards the FI for payments. And same thing with SD, they’re moved to FI for payment receipt. And then we have production planning, QM, PM, HR, IS, OC, and then PS, product systems. So in this course, we’ll be covering…
