Define Company Code
Okay, we have just created Solar Group as a company. Now, we can create Sun Limited as a company code. Let me just repeat what we have done just now. Let’s go to Enterprise Structure, Definition, Financial Accounting. We have created Solar Group as a company using this function.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
Now we’re going to create Sun Limited as the company code under the Solar Group. Solar Group is the group company, and Sun Limited is a subsidiary of Solar Group. Okay, let’s do it now. You go here, click this, We have two options here, you’re to copy company code from existing company code to a new company code.
This is how we’re going to do it. Use this function here, copy company code, just click this. Here, we will see that you cannot create a company code from scratch. You have to copy from another existing company code, so I’m going to copy from company code 1000.
It’s loading all the company codes. Now I have this. I’m going to copy from here, IDES AG. This is a sample company code that SAP delivers together with the SAP software, so I’m going to use 1000, and I have to keep a code for this unlimited company, so I’m going to say it is Sun. I check, ok. It asks you whether we should copy. “Do you want to copy the GL account company code data?”
This means that the system is asking me whether I should copy the GL account, chart of accounts from the 1000 company code. I’m going to say no because I’m going to create the chart of accounts from scratch. I don’t want to use chart of accounts from the 1000 company code. I choose no. And the second question is, the reference company has the local currency, Euro. “Do you want to allocate a different local currency to the target company code?” Yes, because I want to use USD. I’m not going to use Euro, so I’ll say yes. The currency I’m going to use is USD, so I’ll enter that here, and press enter, or you can click this. Certain data was not copied. Just acknowledge the message.
There are inconsistencies in Ledger 8A (Profit Center Accounting), so we can ignore that for now. It’ll take a while to copy, just keep an eye on this.
Company code 1000 copied to Sun without 60 number range objects. This is okay, just ignore this message. So I have company code, Sun created from the source company 1000 that I chose just now. Let’s click okay.
So let me go to complete activities. Company code copied to Sun, yes. That’s right, and go back. Now let me go to Edit Company Code Data, because I have to change some data in the company code I created just now. I have all the company codes which exist. Let me go to my company, which is Sun. In order for it to go to a company code randomly, you’ll click this.
You enter Sun, and click ok. It’ll take me to Sun, the one I created just now. See this has a company name of IDES AG. I want to change this. Let me double-click. Once we double-click, we get this, just change it to Sun Limited, let me just put Sun Limited, and as you know, my company is based in New York, so let me change it to New York. Country, US. USD, yes. The language is not Dutch, it’s English. We just change it to English, EN, and save it. Simple as that. Data Sync, see this message here? Go back, and you’re done.
We have created Sun Limited as a company code. We have Solar Group as a company, and underneath we have Sun Limited as a company code. This is how we have created a hierarchy. Similarly, we have to create a company code for Mercury and Moon under Solar Group. We have to do it here, but I’m not going to do it now. As I told you earlier, I’ll do it when we come to a future module. Now that’s about it, let’s go to the next topic.
